Fanaika plays on his feet with surprising balance in pass protection. He has an immense determination and is known to jolt the defender with his initial hand punch.
During Fanaika’s four-year career at Arizona State he started in 35 of 48 games. He was named Arizona State’s Most Outstanding Lineman following his senior season and was the recipient of the Mike Bartholomew Most Improved Offensive player award following the 2006 season. Fanaika also twice garnered All-Pac 10 honorable mention honors, as a senior in 2008 and as a sophomore in 2006. He earned his degree in B.I.S., interdisciplinary studies.
Fanaika is a first generation of his family to be born in the United States. Both his mother and father came to the United States from the Kingdom of Tonga. Paul calls baseball his first sport, but he started playing football in high school. Off the field he enjoys listening to Reggae and island style music.
